VPN connection failing

What the assistant does

The assistant starts by identifying the type of VPN you are using (proprietary client, OpenVPN, WireGuard, built-in Windows) and the exact error message displayed, because each combination points toward different checks.

Credentials and password expiry check: this is the most common cause. If your domain password has changed or expired, the VPN client can no longer authenticate. We guide you through confirming that your credentials are up to date.

Local firewall check: a Windows Defender update or antivirus can block the port your VPN uses. The assistant shows you how to review active rules and temporarily allow the client if needed.

Certificate check: some enterprise VPNs use digital certificates with an expiry date. The assistant helps you verify whether your certificate is still valid in the Windows certificate store.

Basic connectivity test: if your internet connection itself is unstable, the VPN cannot establish. We check this with you before going further.
